Jen Guest Polestar Pilates Educator
Jen Guest - Polestar Senior Educator

Jen graduated from University of South Australia in 1992, with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy. Her initial work took her through the public health system where she focused on Intensive Care/High Dependency work, gaining a post graduate certification in Cardiothoracic and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. This work formed a great opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team and allowed for the all-encompassing work of holistic client care. She then moved into the Private Health Sector, where she began to channel her efforts and focus into her favoured areas of Dance Physiotherapy, Women’s Health and Pilates.

Jen has combined her earlier years of Classical dance with her profession and postgraduate studies to focus on education and treatment for the dance world. She works in a clinical basis, and is closely involved with Dance and Dance Sport with an emphasis on injury management and prevention, lecturing to the younger, through to professional dancers, teachers and choreographers. She maintains long standing membership with The International Association of Dance Medicine and Science to stay up to date with all latest research, methodology and developments throughout the world, and loves to present at Workshops, Student Summer Schools and Teacher Training Conferences.

Jen has also furthered her practice skills with Women’s Health Continuing Education and practical development, and Real Time Ultrasound training, allowing for accurate assessment, training and reassessment of The Pelvic Floor and Transversus Abdominus.

Commencing her formal Pilates Training in 1998, Jen has continued with further education/certifications, simply due to her love for, and confidence in it’s philosophies. She was honoured to be invited onto the Polestar Pilates Education Mentoring Scheme in 2003, and in 2008 reached Senior Examiner/Educator status. Jenni is a Director of Smart Health Training and Services, a progressive Allied Health Clinic which offers a comprehensive clinical service, occupational and corporate health solutions as well as training. Smart Health is the South Australian Host Site for Polestar Pilates Education. This gives her a base to embrace, share and practice the philosophies as written by Joseph H. Pilates. Jen is passionate about his works and the continuing education within.

Jen is a Life member of the Pilates Alliance of Australasia, a non profit Industry body with the mission to foster the understanding and regulation of quality instruction within studios and training programs. To encourage the relevant knowledge, skills and application of the method, and to help create an industry based on competency and the flow of informed and non-biased information.

Jen is President of Ausdance SA. This organisation is the industry body for Dance in Australia. Here she works with continuing education for teachers and professional development options for all teachers of dance.
