MAT EXAM – AUCKLAND 8 November 2024
The Mat Certification exam consists of two parts:

- A 70-min online multiple choice exam consisting of 50 questions (50 points) – which you can complete from your own home
- Participation in a mock mat class. During this practical section the candidate both teaches a portion of a mat class and demonstrates their exercise performance as a student in a class of 6-10 candidates. Candidates will be evaluated on exercise modification, sequencing, accuracy, verbal and tactile cueing and the quality of the instruction. (50 points)
The practical portion of the exam lasts approximately one hour, and the exact schedule for the day will be communicated closer to the time but allow for 8am-5pm. The entire exam is worth a total of 100 points.
The candidate will need to achieve an 80% pass mark on both written and theory sections of the exam.
Exam Fees of $425 (incl. GST) are not included in the Course Fees. Please note that an automatic credit card surcharge of 3% gets added when you pay via Visa or Mastercard.
REFORMER EXAM – AUCKLAND 7 June 2024
The Reformer Certification exam consists of two parts:

During this practical section the candidate both teaches a portion of a mat class and demonstrates their exercise performance as a student in a class of 6-10 candidates. Candidates will be evaluated on exercise modification, sequencing, accuracy, verbal and tactile cueing and the quality of the instruction. (50 points)
The practical portion of the exam lasts approximately one hour, and the exact schedule for the day will be communicated closer to the time but allow for 8am-5pm. The entire exam is worth a total of 100 points.

COMPREHENSIVE STUDIO & REHAB EXAMS – AUCKLAND 8 NOVEMBER 2024
The Comprehensive Certification exam consists of two parts:

- An online exam consisting of the following three sections:

- Multiple Choice
- Case Study
- Exercise Plan

- A practical one-on-one demonstration of theoretical knowledge, exercise mastery, movement teaching skills and problem solving skills with an oral defence (50 points). Students can book an “appointment slot” for this practical teaching assessment: either at 8am, 10am, or 12pm – enquire about available slots by registering below.
- An online exam consisting of the following three sections:
The online portion of the exam lasts approximately two hours in total and can be completed from your own home, whilst the practical portion lasts approximately one hour. The entire exam is worth a total of 150 points.
The candidate will need to achieve an 80% pass mark on both the online and theory sections of the exam.
The Comprehensive examination tests depth of knowledge, skills and ability to facilitate movement in the Pilates-evolved environment. It is designed to establish an essential level of skill, with emphasis on safety and competence, and evaluates cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains as they pertain to movement analysis, problem solving and treatment planning.
The oral defence addresses theory, adaptations to pathology, contraindications and precautions associated with treatment planning in the Pilates-evolved environment.
Exam Fees of $530 (incl. GST) are not included in the Course Fees.

Exam Prep Tutorial
Jo Hutley, Polestar Educator and Examiner, is running pre-exam ONLINE Zoom tutorials that are designed to prepare Polestar Mat, Reformer and Studio/Rehab students for the theory component of their upcoming Polestar exams.
The following two Zoom tutorials are scheduled:

- PART I: THEORY/MULTIPLE CHOICE
- PART II: PROGRAM DESIGN
PART I: THEORY/MULTIPLE CHOICE – T.B.C. – 3.30 to 5.30pm
This 2-hour tutorial will help you focus your revision and prepare you for your certification exam.
We will cover the following topics:

- History of Pilates
- Theory / Principles review
- Applying the theory to exercises
- Fitness screening revision (brief)
- Programme design
- Hints for answering multiple choice questions
- Practical exam structure and marking
PART II: PROGRAM DESIGN – T.B.C.

- Studio/Comprehensive group: 3.30 – 4.30pm
- Reformer & Mat Class group: 5.00 – 6.00pm
In both groups we will go over program design to help with your Case Study and Exercise Plan (Studio/Comprehensive), or Class Design (Reformer & Mat) sections of your exam. This is to refine your program design for the exam. Each tutorial will last one hour.
For both tutorials you will have worksheets to complete before the actual tutorial so please register early!
Please note that if you or we feel that you need some extra help after the tutorial, then we will recommend some extra mentoring.
If you have already done the tutorial before then you could opt to do the program design section only for your exam (as this will be different to previous tutorials). If this is your preferred option, please let us know via email.
The cost is $120 for both PART I and PART II combined (incl. GST).

* You have 12 months from the completion of your last module to complete your Certification Exam. If due to extenuating circumstances you need to complete your Exam later than 12 months, please contact us to apply for an extension. If you do not complete your Certification Exam within the set timeframe, you will need to complete the entire Series all over again, at a 50% discount of the course fee.

You will need to let us know as soon as possible, as to which day you select to sit your Comprehensive Exam. Choose between either Thursday or Friday.
